- No published price: dentrixascend.com sends every pricing question to a demo request. Packages and suites are quoted per practice.
- Every package includes unlimited users, centralized cloud data and 24/7 support, according to the packages page.
- AI tools are layered on top: Image Verify, Voice Notes, Voice Perio, Eligibility Pro, Detect AI and online booking and forms are listed as tools that "add more value to every package", without saying which package carries which.
- Old benchmark only: TechRadar's March 2022 review found a $995 setup cost and $500 a month for up to 10 users. Treat it as a floor from four years ago, not a quote.
- Cloud systems that do publish: tab32 $125 a month in year one (then $225), Open Dental Cloud from $449 in year one (support plus hosting), Oryx from $650, CareStack from $829.
Dentrix Ascend is Henry Schein One’s cloud practice management system, and its price isn’t on the vendor’s site. The packages page, the AI page and the Dentrix-or-Ascend page all end in a demo or contact form (checked October 27, 2026). What is public is the structure of the bill, what every package includes, which AI tools are sold on top, one dated third-party figure, and the published prices of the cloud systems you would quote it against.
How much does Dentrix Ascend cost?
Henry Schein One does not publish a Dentrix Ascend price. It is a monthly subscription sold by package and suite and quoted per practice, so the number depends on how many locations you run and which suites you add.
The only public figure we found that names its source and date is TechRadar’s review from March 17, 2022. TechRadar wrote that it located “an initial setup cost of $995 (£799), and then $500 (£402) per month for up to 10 users.” The review does not say where those numbers came from, and the packages page now says every package includes unlimited users, so the user cap in that figure no longer matches how Ascend is sold. Use it as a rough lower bound from four years ago.
Aggregator listings disagree with each other and don’t cite dates, so we left them out.
What does every Dentrix Ascend package include?
Per the packages page, every Ascend package includes unlimited users, secure centralized cloud data and 24/7 support. Because it runs in a browser, there is no office server to buy, back up or replace.
Henry Schein One’s own comparison page describes Ascend as “cloud-native” with SOC 2 Type II compliance and TLS encryption, built-in SMS, email, online scheduling and reminders, real-time dashboards and an open API. It contrasts that with desktop Dentrix, where patient engagement tools are add-ons and the practice manages its own IT and backups.
Which Ascend features cost extra?
The packages page lists Image Verify, Voice Notes, Eligibility Pro and online booking and forms under “New tools add more value to every package”, and does not say which package includes each one. Treat each as a line to confirm in the quote.
| Tool | What Henry Schein One says it does | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Image Verify | Rates each x-ray as it’s taken and flags retakes in real time | Not published |
| Detect AI | FDA-cleared caries detection on radiographs, built on VideaHealth’s model | Not published |
| Voice Notes | Dictated, structured clinical notes written into the record | Not published |
| Voice Perio | Spoken perio readings charted into Ascend | Not published |
| Eligibility Pro | Pulls Tuuthfairy, Zuub and DentalXChange checks into one appointment view; SuperDial AI agents call payers when needed | Not published |
| Online booking and forms | Native 24/7 booking and intake forms that write into the patient record | Not published |
| Review Response AI | Replies to online reviews, via Sesame | Not published |
| Ask Ascend and agents | Plain-language questions and pre-built or custom agents across the practice data | Not published |
The AI page also lists Claire, an always-on support assistant. For what each AI tool does in practice, see Dentrix Ascend AI features explained.
Orthodontic and pediatric groups should also ask about Orthodontics in Ascend, which adds digital contracts, payment plans tied to the treatment plan and ortho visit documentation without a separate ortho system. Henry Schein One doesn’t list it as a separately priced suite, so ask whether your package includes it.
How does Ascend’s cost model differ from desktop Dentrix?
Dentrix is a practice license plus an annual support plan running on your own server; Ascend is a monthly subscription with nothing installed locally. Both are quoted, so the comparison has to be done on two written quotes over the same number of years.
| Dentrix | Dentrix Ascend | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Your server, your backups | Henry Schein One’s cloud |
| How you pay | License plus annual support plan billed monthly | Monthly subscription by package and suite |
| Users | Licensed to the practice | Unlimited in every package |
| Server and IT | You buy and maintain them | Not needed beyond workstations and internet |
| Published price | None | None |
Moving from Dentrix to Ascend is a data conversion. Henry Schein One says it offers guided migration of patient data, images and history, and doesn’t publish a fee for it. See Dentrix vs Dentrix Ascend for the feature differences.
What do cloud systems with published prices cost?
Four cloud options publish a price you can set beside an Ascend quote: tab32 $125 a month in year one (then $225), Open Dental Cloud from $449 in year one, Oryx from $650 and CareStack from $829. Curve Dental and Denticon quote, like Ascend.
| System | Published monthly price | What the price covers |
|---|---|---|
| tab32 | $125 in year one, then $225 | Up to 3 providers (Start-Up); 14-day free trial |
| Open Dental Cloud | $199 support (then $149) plus $250 hosting | Up to 3 providers, 7 concurrent sessions; $400 one-time migration |
| Oryx | Pro $650, Automate $899 | Per location, up to 2 providers; $100 per extra provider |
| CareStack | Essentials from $829, Intelligence from $1,299 | Intelligence adds AI notes, voice perio and x-ray AI |
| Curve Dental | Quote | |
| Denticon | Quote | |
| Dentrix Ascend | Quote | Unlimited users in every package |
From each vendor’s pricing page, checked October 27, 2026. Oryx also lists $0-a-month Pro and Automate plans for new practices until they reach 200 patients or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Open Dental Cloud is in limited release and US-only, and the $449 figure is the year-one support fee plus the Small hosting package. Its line-by-line costs are in our Open Dental pricing breakdown.
What should a Dentrix Ascend quote include?
Ask for a written quote that names the package, every suite, the setup and conversion fees, and the contract term. Without those five lines, two Ascend quotes can’t be compared with each other or with a published price.
- The package name and what it includes, including which of Image Verify, Voice Notes, Voice Perio, Eligibility Pro and online booking are in it.
- The price per location, and whether it changes with provider count.
- Setup, data conversion and training fees, itemized.
- Contract length, renewal terms and any price increase cap.
- Per-transaction fees, such as claims, texting or payment processing.
- What happens to your data, images and its export format if you leave.
With an Ascend quote and the published prices above, you can compare three-year totals. The best dental practice management software guide covers the other systems worth quoting.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Dentrix Ascend cost per month?
Henry Schein One does not publish a monthly price for Dentrix Ascend. It is sold as a subscription by package and suite, quoted per practice. The most recent public figure is from a March 2022 TechRadar review: $995 to set up and $500 a month for up to 10 users. Ask for a current written quote.
Does Dentrix Ascend charge per user?
The Ascend packages page says every package includes unlimited users. Pricing is by package and suite, so adding staff does not change the subscription on Henry Schein One's stated terms. Confirm how locations and providers are counted in your quote.
Is there a setup fee for Dentrix Ascend?
Henry Schein One does not publish one. TechRadar's 2022 review reported a $995 initial setup cost. Data conversion and onboarding are separate line items to ask about, especially if you are moving from Dentrix, which is a conversion and not an upgrade.
Are Dentrix Ascend's AI features included?
The packages page lists Image Verify, Voice Notes, Eligibility Pro and native online booking and forms as tools that add value to every package, but does not say which package includes each one. Detect AI, built on VideaHealth's FDA-cleared model, and Voice Perio appear on the Ascend AI page. Ask which are in your package and which are extra.
Is Dentrix Ascend cheaper than Dentrix?
Neither has a published price, so only two written quotes can answer it. The cost models differ: Dentrix is a practice license plus an annual support plan, and you buy and maintain a server. Ascend is a monthly subscription with no local server, which removes the server purchase and much of the backup work.
What is the cheapest cloud alternative to Dentrix Ascend?
Among cloud systems with published prices, tab32 starts lowest at $125 a month in year one for up to 3 providers, then $225. Oryx Pro starts at $650 a month for up to 2 providers, and CareStack Essentials at $829. Open Dental Cloud costs its $199 support fee plus hosting from $250 a month.
